This article is a personal reflection on my family and my life in Satta, Dhaka. Born and raised here in this beautiful part of Bangladesh, I can honestly say that my home is where my heart is. Here, my people and I have been able to enjoy the most wonderful and vibrant life. It is such a privilege to be a part of Satta, to call it my own land.

51106258364_3fc58d32f8.jpgIt is a very humbling experience to be awarded the title of satta king or state munkhala by our great shire (governor) in Bangladesh. The satta is a symbol of the honor, respect and recognition that a person is bestowed upon when he or she is conferred with the satta. The satta is the basic garment in the Bengali civilization, worn by both men and women. It is known to most as the 'bhel puri', which loosely translates into 'the robe of honor'. It is a sign of respect, honor and position and any breach of this would be treated as an insult to the entire Bengali society.

This is just one of my many satta khatas that have graced my home. The title data king result was earned after a very arduous and trying process. It was not an easy road to get to the position of state king, it has taken many years of preparation and perseverance. A lot of hard work and sacrifices were needed for me to reach the pinnacle of my aspiration. I had to work so hard, so that I could smile, knowing that the people were recognizing me for what I am.

Being awarded satta by our shire (governor) in Bangladesh was like a feather that was placed in my cap. No words could express the happiness I felt, to receive such an extraordinary honor. I was overwhelmed with joy that such a privilege awaited me. It was overwhelming to know that all the hardships and struggles I had gone through to reach this position of honor, paid off when I was awarded with the state dishware. I was very touched and blessed to have received this recognition. The satta is the key to a safe journey and a prosperous future.

After receiving the data from the shire, I headed to the M.S. Road, my destination was the boar saudo, which is considered as the administrative center of Bangladesh. I was welcomed by the bahar shire and was allowed to enter inside. I was also given a free ticket to roam around the bar, and my guide was so kind enough to show me around. I was introduced to some of the local people and was fascinated to know their culture and customs.

I spent the rest of the day learning more about this place. I learnt that there are many different sects in the area, and each of them has their own way of worship and practices. I learnt that there are around forty different religions in Bangladesh alone, and that was a very interesting piece of information to know. Also, at the end of the day, I was able to visit my favourite flower shop and buy flower seeds from it, which was a very special treat. My experience in Dhaka was truly unique and unforgettable, and I will cherish the memories for the rest of my life.
