Dame Judi Dench has arrived in Aberdeen to join the Royal family for the annual Braemar Gathering highland games. 

Dame Judi arrived at Aberdeen Airport at about 1.30pm today and is believed to be staying in the local area. 

The 84-year-old will travel to Balmoral tomorrow, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds have been all day today.

But Dame Judi might not get to spend much time with the Tory leader, as a No 10 spokesperson said they aren't expected to be at the highland games.

Dame Judi Dench cut a casual figure today as she arrived at Aberdeen Airport to join the Royals

Arriving in Aberdeen today, Dame Judi look sprightly and was wearing white trousers and a cream jumper, with a cardigan and scarf.

She was accompanied by another man who was pushing the luggage trolley.

Dame Judi is familiar with Scotland, where she spent a lot of time filming Victoria and Abdul.

She filmed in locations such as Glen Afric in Cairngorms National Park and in the wild Glenfeshie.
