Abstract

The influence of songs and anime on the acquisition of adult Japanese vocabulary as one-way communication is the aim of this research. In collecting data, three respondents participated in answering vocabulary questions based on ten pictures and the questionnaire was used to determine the frequency of participants listening to Japanese songs and watching anime. The results showed that vocabulary acquisition in adult learners was quite difficult, this was due to motivation and age factors. All the participants have been influenced and have been connoisseurs of Japanese content for more than five years, but none of them got a perfect score on the vocabulary test, but they got different motivations for learning Japanese. It can be concluded that the higher the learner's motivation, the better results will be obtained. Acquisition of Japanese vocabulary by listening to Japanese songs and watching anime is a possible way, but it can be said that it is not easy for adult learners.
