The Dynamics Of Public Welfare In The Novel Kaki Langit Talumae: Socio-Cultural Study

Abstract

Social phenomena such as economic crisis, differences in regional norms, and low education trigger an imbalance in regional welfare. Lack of attention and participation of the government and the local community triggers a weak change in a region. The quality and quantity of an area's community can be assessed in line with the level of welfare of the community. This research aims to describe social changes that can increase or inhibit the level of community welfare. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with socio-cultural approach. The results of this study indicate that the dynamics of the majority of people's welfare are influenced by patterns of social relations, social interactions, social changes and social conditions that exist in the area. One of the causes of socio-cultural changes in society is the movement that was taken over by the Talumae population so that it can have an impact on the level of welfare of the community. This is shown in the population of the Talumae hamlet which is not too dense, good health and nutrition, proper and developed education, competent workforce, good level and consumption patterns, good housing and environment, and decreasing poverty. Changes that occur in the social context always lead to the efforts of the character in realizing his love of his native land. That love can finally strengthen the Talumae socio-cultural movement.
