Abstract

Maja (Crescentia cujete L.) is a plants that have many pharmacology activity. The chemical content of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins has the potential to provide therapeutic activity such as analgesic. This research to determine the therapeutic potential, namely analgesic of Maja fruit flesh extracts based on the amount of twisted mice induced by glacial acetic acid 1% and the effective dose equivalent to Ibuprofen. This research used DDY male mice, the test animals used were 25 mice were divided into 5 groups with a simple random sampling technique. Negative control used 1% CMC-Na, positive control used a 400 mg/kg BW Ibuprofen suspension and Maja fruit flesh extract treatment group at a dose of 125 mg/kg BW, 250 mg/kg BW, and 500 mg/kg BW. Based on the One-Way ANOVA statistic test results, it was found to the p-value = 0.001 showed a significantly different mean of the amount of stretching in the five groups after being treated. Maja fruit flesh extract which has analgesic potential comparable to ibuprofen is 500 mg/kg BW. Keywords : Analgesics; in vivo; Maja fruit; Writhing Reflex

 

ABSTRAK

Maja (Crescentia cujete L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak aktivitas farmakologi. Kandungan kimia flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin dan tanin berpotensi memberikan aktivitas terapi seperti analgesik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi terapi yaitu analgesik dari ekstrak daging buah maja berdasarkan jumlah geliat mencit yang diinduksi asam asetat glasial 1% dan dosis efektif yang setara Ibuprofen. Penelitian ini menggunakan mencit jantan galur DDY, hewan uji yang digunakan adalah 25 ekor mencit yang dibagi dalam 5 kelompok dengan teknik simple random sampling. Kontrol negatif menggunakan CMC-Na 1%, kontrol positif menggunakan suspensi Ibuprofen 400 mg/kgBB dan kelompok perlakuan ekstrak buah maja dengan dosis 125 mg/kgBB, 250mg/kgBB, dan 500 mg/kgBB. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik One-Way ANOVA, didapatkan nilai p = 0,001 menunjukkan rata-rata yang berbeda secara bermakna terhadap jumlah geliat pada kelima kelompok setelah diberi perlakuan. Ekstrak etanol daging buah maja yang memiliki potensi analgesik sebanding dengan ibuprofen adalah 500 mg/kgBB.
